Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds chicken wings about 16 wings
  • 1 tablespoon oil of your choice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons paprika
  • ½-3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ⅓ cup Frank’s Buffalo Sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • First, pat the wings dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Second, add the wings to a large mixing bowl and add the oil, 1 tablespoon of the buffalo sauce, the paprika, the cayenne, the garlic powder, and as much salt and pepper as you wish.
  • Stir everything together well.
  • Next, to prevent sticking, be sure to spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • After that, place the sauced wings in the basket of your air fryer, making sure to evenly spread them out and leave a bit of space in between each wing so that they will be cooked all the way through.
  • Following that, close the air fryer drawer, and set your air fryer on to cook at 400°F for 22 minutes. You may need to cook your wings in batches if you have a smaller air fryer so that you can make sure the wings do not get overcrowded.
  • When the wings are almost done, heat up the rest of the buffalo sauce.
  • Once the wings are completely done, add them to another mixing bowl and pour the rest of the buffalo sauce over the wings. Mix the wings and sauce together to completely coat the wings.
  • Finally, you will want to serve the wings immediately for maximum crispiness!

Notes

Dairy-Free Sub: These wings contain no dairy ingredients!

Expert Tips

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. This will prevent the wings from getting crispy. If you have a small air fryer, you may need to cook the wings in batches.
  • To get extra crispy skin, you can add a bit of gluten-free cornstarch to the spice mixture before air frying.
  • The best way to ensure that your chicken wings are cooked all the way through is to use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the chicken should be at least 165°F.
  • For a bit of extra flavor, you can add some brown sugar to the spice mixture. This will give the wings a nice caramelization when they are air-fried.

Tools Used

Ingredients and Notes

  • Raw Chicken Wings
  • Oil of your choice
  • Garlic Powder
  • Paprika
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Frank’s Buffalo Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Buffalo sauce - if you are not a fan of buffalo sauce, you can use another hot sauce or another favorite wing sauce instead. You could try lemon pepper, bbq sauce, or parmesan garlic if you like.

Dry rub - this is a great way to add flavor to the wings without using any additional sauces. Simply mix together some garlic powder, salt, black pepper, paprika or any other spices you like, and leave off the sauce.

Fresh or frozen wings - you can find these at your local grocery store in the meat department or frozen section. If using frozen, I suggest thawing in the fridge overnight before cooking.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep

  1. First, pat the wings dry with some paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Second, add the wings to a large mixing bowl and add the oil, 1 tablespoon of the buffalo sauce, the paprika, the cayenne, the garlic powder, and as much salt and pepper as you wish.
  3. Stir everything together well.
  4. Next, to prevent sticking, be sure to spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with cooking spray.

Step 2: Cook

  1. After that, place the sauced wings in the basket of your air fryer, making sure to evenly spread them out and leave a bit of space in between each wing so that they will be cooked all the way through.
  2. Following that, close the air fryer drawer, and set your air fryer on to cook at 400°F for 22 minutes. You may need to cook your wings in batches if you have a smaller air fryer so that you can make sure the wings do not get overcrowded.
  3. When the wings are almost done, heat up the rest of the buffalo sauce.
  4. Once the wings are completely done, add them to another large bowl and pour the rest of the buffalo sauce over the wings. Mix the wings and sauce together to completely coat the wings.

Step 3: Serve

Finally, you will want to serve the wings immediately for maximum crispiness! These wings pair perfectly with a side salad, french fries, and your favorite dipping sauce like blue cheese or ranch dressing.

Why This Recipe Works

Easy - these air-fried wings are incredibly easy to make! Simply mix together your ingredients, cook, and then enjoy!

Crispy - the key to any great chicken wing is the crispy skin. This recipe uses a simple technique to achieve perfectly crispy wings every time.

Flavorful - these wings are packed with really great flavor thanks to the buffalo sauce and dry rub. You'll love how they taste!

Storage and Reheating

If you want to store and reheat your leftover gluten free chicken wings, you have a few great options!

Best Way To Store

Store any leftover buffalo chicken wings in an airtight container or freezer bag after completely cooled. You can also wrap them individually with cling wrap or aluminum foil.

How Long Will The Leftovers Last In the Fridge?

As long as your crispy chicken wings are stored properly, they can last in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Can I Freeze Leftover Buffalo Chicken Wings?

Yes, you can! As long as they are properly stored, you can freeze your leftover chicken wings in the freezer for up to 6 months.

How To Reheat Gluten Free Chicken Wings

If the chicken wings have been kept in the refrigerator, let them sit out for about 15 minutes to reach room temperature before reheating. Heat them in the microwave in a microwave-safe dish for one minute on one side.

Flip the wings and continue to cook them for another minute or until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees F.

If your gluten free chicken wings are frozen, heat them in the oven at 350 degrees F on a large rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer for 10-20 minutes. Just make sure the proper internal temperature is reached.
