In this article, I'll talk about the three best brands of gluten free bread including the pros and cons of each as well as prices.

What Is the Very Best Gluten Free Bread?
As you probably know, people who are intolerant to gluten have fewer options when it comes to buying bread.
Most people take for granted the dozens of different kinds of bread available at their local grocery store, but if you're following a strict gluten free diet, there aren't as many choices.
Still, that doesn't mean you can't find some pretty amazing loaves out there. I've put together a list of the best three brands of gluten free bread and where to buy them.
Does Good Gluten Free Bread Exist?
People who are diagnosed with celiac disease usually have to eliminate all products that contain gluten from their diets.
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and other cereal grains. According to some sources, gluten affects up to 20 million Americans.
There are many people who choose to be on gluten free diets for other reasons like digestive issues and weight loss.
Therefore, there is an enormous market for gluten free bread. Many people would prefer eating homemade bread or purchasing at bakeries.
However not a lot of bakeries provide wheat alternative options and a good homemade gluten free bread recipe can be hard to come by.
Unfortunately, commercial gluten free bread is often made with low-quality ingredients to save on cost.
However, there are some really great alternative brands of bread that contain no gluten ingredients that can be purchased at grocery stores.
I have included my top 3 favorites below as well as my favorite homemade gluten free recipe towards the bottom of the post!
What Makes Good Gluten Free Bread?
There are five major attributes that make gluten free bread "good".
These include taste, texture, nutrition facts label (how many carbs and sugar), price relative to other products in the store (it shouldn't be expensive for an item you eat every day), and ease of preparation.
Why Is Gluten Free Bread So Bad?
From my experience, a lot of wheat alternative bread is usually dry, crumbly, and tastes extremely bland. This might be because most brands contain flours that don't rise as well, like rice flour.
Or they might taste bland because they don't include yeast as a rising agent at all.
But no matter the reason, most wheat alternative bread is usually best kept for sandwiches and not eaten alone.
Here are some brands that I have found to be delicious and best of all, easy to find at your local grocery store.

What Is the Best Gluten Free White Bread?
The best gluten free white bread in my opinion would be Udi's Gluten Free Frozen White Bread.
This bread comes in an 18oz loaf which is much larger than most other similar bread but is about the same price.
You can get Udi's Gluten Free Frozen White Bread from Target for around $5.49 and it is sold at many other stores as well.
Is Potato Bread Gluten Free?
Potato bread is made from potatoes and flour, which include wheat. It may be best to avoid this type of bread if you have a severe sensitivity to gluten.
However, you can always make your own potato bread at home that contains no gluten. Potato bread gets its name because it uses potatoes as an ingredient instead of traditional grains like wheat or rye.
The best types of gluten free bread are the ones where you can clearly tell that it's 100% free of any gluten. This means that it should be made with only gluten free ingredients and not have any residue of wheat in the final product.
If you see 'wheat flour' or 'enriched wheat flour' on the label, you know that the bread, unfortunately, contains gluten.
Sticking to a strict diet can seem difficult, but once you find brands that make great gluten-free products, it's much easier to enjoy deliciously healthy meals!
Is Ezekiel Bread Gluten Free?
Unfortunately, it is not. Ezekiel bread is made with grains such as sprouted wheat, barley, and Spelt.
Those who have a severe allergy to gluten will struggle with eating this type of bread and should look for a gluten free alternative.

Gluten Free Bread Machine Bread
Equipment
- Bread Machine
Ingredients
- 3 cups Gluten Free King Arthur 1:1 Flour
- 2 cups Warm Water add a bit more if dough is dry
- ½ teaspoon Instant Yeast
- 1 teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
- Add the warm water (should be slightly warmer than room temp) and mix thuroughly.
- Pour your dough into your non-stick bread machine pan. Don't forget the dough hook!
- Set your bread machine to the gluten free setting if it has it. If not, use the quick bake setting or express bake setting. (should be about 56-59 minutes)
- Once the bread is done, let it cool, slice and serve!

How long should the quick bread setting be for if your bread machine does not have a gf setting? I tried mine and the 59 minute cycle was not nearly long enough. :/

That is the setting/time I use. Why do you think it wasn't long enough? Was it not baked all the way through?

Well that was disappointing. You went into a LOT of detail and listed ingredients, cost, taste, pros and cons for each commercial bread and this recipe was like an after thought. No cost per ounce? I'm looking to save money since GF bread is almost $10 a loaf in my area and a comparison to cost for the homemade version would have been nice.

So sorry you found this disappointing! I used King Arthur 1:1 gluten-free flour. I purchase it on Amazon. There it is: $0.18 per ounce. The recipe uses 3 cups of flour, so you'd be using about $2.30 in flour. The only other ingredient that costs money would be the yeast, which would cost maybe $0.67 depending on where you buy it. So the total cost of this loaf would be about $2.97. Hope this helps!
